SOTA Convoys is dedicated to providing essential Surgery, Obstetrics, Trauma, and Anesthesia (SOTA) care in regions where access is severely limited. The team not only delivers life-saving and life-changing procedures but also focuses on enhancing the availability and quality of medical services in these underserved areas. By offering crucial infrastructure and logistics, SOTA Convoys aims to strengthen healthcare delivery and professionalism at each target location.
In collaboration with SOTA Convoys, the Hospitainer Foundation provided a specialized medical box for their surgical convoy. This medical box contains a fully-equipped Operating Theatre (OT) within a compact 16-foot unit. It includes all essential installations such as air and water filtration systems, electricity, and the necessary equipment to perform medical interventions safely and effectively. Designed specifically for low-resource and hard-to-reach areas, the OT comes with a complete medical inventory handpicked by Hospitainer’s specialists.
One standout feature of this OT is its integrated anesthesia system, which not only produces its own oxygen and medical air but also has a backup power supply—making it perfectly suited for challenging environments. This level of self-sufficiency ensures that advanced medical care is consistently available, even in the most remote settings.
The convoy itself consists of specialized vehicles, designed to handle rough terrain and isolated locations. Alongside the medical truck equipped with the OT, the convoy includes two additional trucks for medical personnel and essential utilities, allowing for sustained operations in remote areas. These trucks have successfully navigated the African continent, traveling from Namibia all the way to Kenya, bringing high-quality medical care to communities in need.
